The province of Kirin (Jilin) lies in Manchuria, north of the present day border of North Korea. The mint opened in 1881 and for many years struck only trial pieces. Silver milled coins were produced from 1895 onward. Many were dated using the sexagenary cycle. The mint burnt down in 1911.

The specimen shown was lot 60403 at Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011) where it sold for $32,862. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, “[[China|CHINA]]. Kirin. 3 Mace 6 Candareens (1/2 Dollar), 1908. A similar example also graded by NGC AU-55 sold for $18,400 in our December 2010 Auction. 一枚NGC AU-55 在2010 年12月拍賣以美金18,400 售出。 NGC AU-55.
