Hupeh Province is located in east-central China. The mint was active from the early Manchu dynasty, and adapted for modern coin mintage in 1895.

The specimen shown was lot 21443 in Ponterio sale 165 (Hong Kong, April 2012), where it sold for US$179. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "CHINA. Kiangnan. Cash, CD (1908). NGC MS-62. 江南。現鈔，CD（1908 年）。. From the Collection of a Prominent Southern California Collector."
