The specimen shown is from a type struck in Rome for [[Italy]] since 2008. Italy is one of the founders of the euro and began issuing coins in that system in 2002. In 2008, the obverse was modified to show a redesigned map of Europe. All dates are common. The reverse shows the head of Botticelli's ''Venus,'' an art treasure on display at the Uffizi in Florence.
