The specimen shown is from a type struck in Rome to commemorate the centennial of the Bank of [[Italy]]. The obverse of the regular 500 lire ([[Italy 1991-R 500 lire KM-111|KM 111]]) was used. This denomination proved popular and convenient for various silver commemoratives issued until the introduction of the euro in 2002 (see the [[Italy 1961-R 500 lire|"centennial"]] and [[Italy 1965-R 500 lire KM-100|"Dante"]] commemoratives).

''Specification:'' 6.8 g, "bronzital" (aluminum bronze) core with a "acmonital" (stainless steel) ring, 25.8 mm diameter.
