This specimen was lot 162 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"[[Iran|IRAN]], Qajar Dynasty, Fath-'Ali Shah, 1212-1250 AH (1797-1834). 1/2 Toman 1227 AH (1812), Tabriz Mint. ''Sehr selten;'' Very rare. NGC MS64. Purchased from Baldwin's, London, in 2000."</blockquote> This gold denomination, tho less common than the toman, was struck at numerous mints during the reign of Fath 'Ali Shah. This style and weight standard is listed in the SCWC as type V. This style was also struck at Isfahan (KM 748.1) and again at Tabriz in AH 1231.
