The first specimen was lot 262 in Aureo y Calicó sale 242 (Barcelona, March 2012), where it sold for 190 € (about US$295 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Fernando VII (1808-1833). 1812. Guatemala. M. 1 real. Leves golpecitos en parte del canto. Brillo original. Bella. Rara así. EBC/EBC+.'' (Ferdinand VII, 1808-33, one real of 1812, Guatemala mint. Light edge nicks, very handsome, lustrous, extremely fine)."</blockquote> This specimen is one of a series struck 1811-1821 at Guatemala during the reign of Ferdinand VII (1808-33). The type is not rare but nice specimens always bring a premium.
