This specimen was lot 1056 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,007 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Grossbritannien, konigreich, Charles I. 1625-1649. 1/2 Pound 1642, Oxford Mint. Selten. Sehr schön. Hübsche Patina.'' (kingdom of [[Great Britain]], Charles I, 1625-49, half pound of 1642, Oxford mint. Rare, Very fine, Attractively toned.)"</blockquote> While Charles had issued crowns in silver and gold prior to the Civil War, his urgent need for cash led him to open several provisional mints and issue crowns in a large variety of types. The half pound was worth ten shillings or two crowns and this was the only period when it was issued in silver.
