This specimen was lot 15 in Sincona sale 5 (Zürich, May 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''ITALIEN Genua Dogi Biennali, 1528-1797. 5 Doppie 1640. Av. *DVX * ET * GVB * REIP * GENV * Befusstes Kreuz, in den Winkeln Sterne. Rv. * ET * REGE * EOS * 1640 * IB * SVS * Madonna auf Wolken, mit Sternenkranz um den Kopf. Sie hält mit der Rechten ein Zepter, auf ihrem Schoss das Christuskind. Sehr selten. NGC AU55. Vorzüglich.'' ([[Italy]], republic of Genoa, biennial doges, five doppie of 1640. Obverse: floriate cross, stars in fields; reverse: Madonna on cloud, holding scepter and Christ Child. Very rare, NGC-55, extremely fine.)"</blockquote>  This five doppie was equal to ten ducats. This type was struck 1640-97 but all the dates are rare.
