This specimen was struck for [[French Polynesia]] by the Paris mint, which has issued this type sporadically since 1976. French Polynesia is better known to English speakers as Tahiti. This coin shares a common obverse with other types issued for various French colonies, such as New Caledonia and the New Hebrides.
