This specimen was lot 562 in Jean Elsen sale 137 (Brussels, June 2018), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,227 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"'' VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Philips IV (1621-1665), AV gouden kroon, 1642, Brugge. Vz/ Gebloemd kruis. Kz/ Gekroond wapenschild tussen twee gekroonde vuurijzers. Uiterst zeldzaam. Zeer Fraai.'' (county of Flanders, couronne d'or of 1642, Bruges mint. Obverse: floriate cross; reverse: crowned arms between two crowned jewels. Very rare, very fine.)"</blockquote> This type was struck at Bruges 1627-28, 1631-32, 1640-42 and is rare. It was also issued from [[Tournai 1644 couronne d'or Fr-398|Tournai]], Antwerp and [[Brabant 1633(a) couronne d'or Fr-110|Brussels]] in Brabant. It was superseded by the ''souverain d'or'' and double ''souverain d'or'' ([[Flanders 1642 2 souverain d'or Fr-226|Fr-226]]).
