This specimen was lot 1252 in Jean Elsen sale 151 (Brussels, June 2022), where it sold for €120 (about US$150 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''VLAANDEREN, Graafschap, Philips de Stoute (1384-1404), AR groot botdrager, 1389-1404, Gent, Mechelen en Brugge. Vz/ Zittende leeuw n. l. Kz/ Lang gevoet kruis op een Bourgondisch wapenschild. Zeer Fraai. Uit de verzameling Paul De Witte. Afkomstig van De Nobele, Brussel, 12 november 1927 en uit onze veiling 87, 11 maart 2006, 726.'' ([[Netherlands, Spanish|county of Flanders]], Philip the Bold, 1384-1404, groat botdrager, Ghent, Mechelen or Bruges mint. Obverse: seated lion left; reverse: Burgundian arms over a long cross. very Fine.)"</blockquote> This is the ''groot botdrager'' which accompanied the well known ''double gros botdrager'', issued in large numbers from Flanders (shown here), [[Brabant (1410-12) 2 gros|Brabant]] and Holland. Half groats were also struck tho much less famous.
