This specimen was lot 533 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,089. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "ITALY, Sardegna (Regno). Vittorio Emanuele II. As Re Eletto d’Italia, 1859-1861. AR Lira. Firenze (Florence) mint; segni: Mt. Araldici/hand holding scepter. Luigi Gori, engraver. Marchese Luigi Ridolfi, director. Dated 1860. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64. Toned lightly over lustrous white silver. Nicest we have ever seen for type. Very seldom offered on this side of the Atlantic. Purchased from Maison Platt." In 1859-61, a provisional coinage was struck in Florence and Bologna for Emilia-Romagna while Italy was being unified. Issues included a [[Emilia 1860 50 centesimi|fifty centesimi]], a [[Emilia 1860 2 lire|two lire]], a [[Emilia 1860 5 lire Dav-138|five lire]] and [[Emilia 1860-B 10 lire Fr-257|ten]] and [[Emilia 1860-B 20 lire Fr-256|twenty lire]] in gold. The following year, Victor Emanuel was proclaimed king of a united [[Italy]].
