The years 1811-1819 were the first years of liberation during the struggle for independence from [[Spain]]. The first republican coinage was issued during this period of 'La Patria Boba', except for the interval 1817-1818, when Royalists took brief control. The Republic of Colombia had not yet been created, thus the region was considered a unification of provinces. Shown is a silver one real, issued for 'Nueva Granada.Cundinamarca'. It was lot 25587 and sold on Apr 18, 2011 for $690 at Heritage sale 3014 (Chicago, April 2011). The catalog description reads:  "Cundinamarca "Nueva" Indian 1R 1815, 2.56 gram example with correct spelling NUEVA. Struck, as always, from a low fineness and poorly annealed silver batch, this lightly marked piece is probably at least VF for actual wear. Very Rare. From The Dana Roberts Collection."
