This specimen was lot 4398 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011) where it sold for 2,500 CHF (about US$3,326 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''DEUTSCHLAND Konstanz, Stadt Taler 1625. Wappen zwischen der geteilten Jahreszahl. Rv. Gekrönter, nimbierter Doppeladler. Kl. Kr. Vorzüglich.'' ([[Germany]], City of Constance, thaler of 1625. Obverse: arms divide date; reverse: crowned, nimbate double-headed eagle. Extremely fine)."</blockquote>  Constance is a town on the shores of the lake of the same name. Though it has always been surrounded by Swiss territory, it was never part of the Swiss Confederation. Originally ecclesiastical territory, the town wrested its independence during the Reformation and maintained it until Napoleon handed it to the Grand Duchy of Baden. The SCWC lists this type for 1623-26.
