The [[Comoros]] are an island group in the Indian Ocean between [[Madagascar]] and [[Mozambique]] and was a longtime French colony until independence in 1975. In 1964, the Paris mint issued a set of denominations for the islands, one, [[Comoros 1964 2 francs|two]] and [[Comoros 1964 5 francs|five francs]] in aluminum and ten and [[Comoros 1964 20 francs|twenty francs]] in aluminum-bronze. The coins are not rare but are less often seen than those of other French colonies such as St. Pierre et Miquelon or French Somaliland.
