This specimen is one of a type struck for [[Colombia]] in 1886 only. It replaced the last five centavos struck in silver ([[Colombia 1884-B 5 centavos|KM 174]]). This coin is listed very cheaply in the SCWC but, like many minors from Colombia, very difficult to find in nice condition. This date exists in several reverse varieties. 
The country adopted its current name, "Republica de Colombia," in 1886. Five centavos coins from the later period are all base metal.
