This specimen was lot 2094 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,093 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''CHINA | Volksrepublik. 150 Yuan 1986. Jahr des Tigers. Nur 5'000 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte.'' (people's republic of [[China]], Year of the tiger, Only 5,000 pieces struck, Choice Proof.)"</blockquote> After Hong Kong released several successful commemoratives in the late 70's featuring the Chinese zodiac, the government of China took notice. This NCLT honoring the Year of the Tiger was accompanied by a silver ten yuan ([[China 1986 10 yuan KM-137|KM 137]]) and silver fifty yuan.
