This is a peso minted in Santiago, [[Chile]], in 1878. It is a common date of a common type struck 1868-91 but nice examples are always worth a premium. This specimen was lot 22368 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "CHILE. Peso, 1878-So. NGC MS-64. Sharply struck, brilliant and quite attractive. From the Alex Siegel Collection."
