This specimen was lot 3060 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 17,000 CHF (about US$20,589 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SWITZERLAND | Bern | Stadt und Kanton, 3 Dukaten 1772, Bern. Variante mit Laubrand. Sehr selten. NGC MS62+. Prachtvolle Erhaltung.'' (Switzerland, canton of Bern, triple ducat of 1772, Bern mint, variety with laurel wreath. Very rare, Magnificent condition.)"</blockquote> This issue is rare even by the standard of Swiss gold. This specimen realized double the catalog value.
