This specimen was lot 772 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$149 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Königreich Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Doppelgulden 1848, München. Kl. Kr. Vorzüglich.'' (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, double gulden of 1848, Munich mint. Some hairlines, extremely fine.)"</blockquote> Double gulden were struck 1845-56 along with gulden and half gulden in parallel with the thaler series. Two thaler = 3½ gulden. This type was struck 1845-48 and is common. The double gulden was last struck in 1855.
