This specimen was lot 3222 in Sincona sale 20 (Zürich, October 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "''Vereinstaler 1866. Kremnitz. Vorzüglich-FDC.'' (union thaler of 1866, Kremnitz mint, extremely fine to uncirculated.)" This type was struck 1866-67 and was the second type struck to the ''vereinsthaler'' standard (18.52 g, 0.900 fine). The 1866-B is common. After 1867, Bismarck forced [[Austria]] out of German affairs and the Hapsburgs thereafter had little reason to conform to German monetary conventions. The thaler was dropped after 1868 and in 1892 the corona was adopted.
