This specimen was lot 3074 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 475 (about US$626 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Taler o. J. Hall. Sehr schön-vorzüglich.'' (Austria, thaler without date, Hall mint, very fine to extremely fine.)"</blockquote> Altho this type could have been minted any time during Ferdinand's long reign (1521-64), we have narrowed it down to 1540-56 as thalers issued after that date always show the emperor bearded. Künker states this was struck circa 1546-50.
