This specimen features the sunface design originally used on the patriot eight reales of 1815-35. This issue should not be confused with the [[Argentina 1961 peso|peso]] of the 1960's. The coinage was reformed in 1970, 1983, 1985 and 1992. Argentina was to suffer from bouts of hyperinflation for the next forty years, impoverishing a once prosperous region. This type was struck in 2007 to commemorate the discovery of oil in Argentina.
