This type was struck 1607-12 in [[German States, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach|Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach]] and is among the more common thalers of the period. The eight brothers depicted were co-rulers of the tiny state; the last one, William IV, died in 1662. The second specimen was lot 8263 in Ponterio sale 160 (Baltimore, June 2011), where it sold for $373.75. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Germany|GERMANY]]. Saxe-Weimar. Taler, 1610-WA. Joint Rule of 8 Brothers (1605-40). VERY FINE."
