This specimen was lot 601 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €12,000 (about US$15,605 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''BRABANT, Duché, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), AV double souverain, 1612, Bruxelles. Seulement 993 p. frappées du 29 mai 1612 au 13 mars 1613. D/ Les archiducs trônant de f., Albert ten. une épée et Isabelle ten. un sceptre. R/ Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Extrêmement rare. De qualité exceptionnelle, frappé sur flan large. Léger choc sur la tranche. Belle couleur. Superbe à Fleur de Coin.'' Extremely rare, exceptional quality, struck on a large planchet, rim bump, nice color, extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"</blockquote> This type superseded the [[Brabant 1604(h) 2 albertins d'or Fr-86|double albertin d'or]] of 1601-09. It was struck throughout the Spanish Netherlands until 1657, including at Tournai ([[Tournai (1612-21) 2 souverain d'or Fr-391|Fr-391]]) and Flanders ([[Flanders 1613 2 souverain d'or Fr-223|Fr-223]]). This undated specimen is from the very first issue.
