This specimen was lot 2239 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,885 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''DEUTSCHLAND Münster, 2 Taler 1534, Wiedertäufer. Prägung des 17. Jahrhunderts. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Munster|bishopric of Munster]], double thaler of 1534, struck in the seventeenth century. Very fine-extremely fine, Attractively toned."</blockquote> The original "Anabaptist" thaler was struck in the city of Munster in 1534 during the attempt to establish a communal sectarian government there. Note the absence of any reference to Franz von Waldeck, prince-bishop of Munster. This double thaler was struck later as a souvenir.
