This specimen was lot 1747 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zurich, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''ITALIEN Venedig, Paolo Renier, 1779-1789. Ducatone da 124 Soldi o. J. (nach 1779), Venezia. Sigle LAF (Lunardo Alvise Foscarini). Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar mit feinem Prägeglanz.'' ([[Italy]], [[Italy, Venice|republic of Venice]], Paolo Renier, 1779-89, undated ducatone, Venice mint, initials LAF. Very rare in this condition. NGC MS61, Cabinet piece with nice mint luster.)"</blockquote> By this period, Venice was a ghost of her former power, surviving only on the sufferance of her [[Austria]]n and Turkish neighbors. Ducatoni were issued to this standard until the end of the republic. Other large silver coins included [[Venice (1779-89)-LAF scudo Dav-1564|scudi]] (= 140 soldi), [[Venice 1756 tallero Dav-1552|talleri]], [[Venice (1779-81)-AF ducato Dav-1567|ducati]] as well as a variety of gold coins, especially ducats. This type was also struck with mintmaster BC.
