This specimen was lot 1027 in Stack's Bowers sale of the L. E. Bruun Collection (Copenhagen, September 2024), where it sold for €10,200 (about US$11,304 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"Boldly Struck and Brightly Lustered Gold 1/2 Krone, [[Denmark|DENMARK]]. Gold 1/2 Krone, 1619. Copenhagen Mint; Privy Mark: Clover. Christian IV. NGC MS-63. Mintmaster: Nicolaus Schwabe. A stunningly brilliant and brightly lustrous 1/2 Krone with eye catching tone that accompanies the surfaces. A minute striking void is noted within the crown design, however this is relatively minor in the scope of the overall appeal. A RARE type, and undoubtedly among the finest extant. The value of the 1/2 Krone denomination was equivalent to 3/4 Speciedaler."</blockquote> This series of gold coins included a half krone (shown here), single krone ([[Denmark 1619-RFP krone Fr-55|Fr-55]]) and double krone ([[Denmark 1619-RFP 2 krone Fr-54|Fr-54]]). Only the double krone was struck after 1619. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but not particularly successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
