This specimen was lot 4515 in Sincona sale 83 (Zurich, May 2023), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$937 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"ITALY Carmagnola, Michele Antonio di Saluzzo, 1504-1528. Testone o. J. (erstes Viertel des 16. Jahrhunderts), Carmagnola. Einköpfiger Adler nach links. . MICHAEL . ANT~ . MAR~ . SALVTIARVM . . Rv. Stehender Heiliger mit Nimbus in Rüstung von vorne, in der Rechten einen Fahnenwimpel, in der Linken ein Schwert haltend. + . SANCTVS . CONSTANTIVS . . ''Selten. Gutes sehr schön. Leicht poröser Schrötling'' (Michele Antonio di Saluzzo, 1504-1528, undated testone, from the first quarter of the sixteenth century, Carmagnola mint. Obverse: single headed eagle to left; reverse: standing saint with halo, armored and holding a pennant and a sword. Rare, Good very fine, Slightly porous flan).

Die unter Michele Antonio Saluzzo (1504-1528) geschlagenen Testoni mit dem stehenden Krieger im Harnisch scheinen als Erste das Bild des Dicken aus Bellinzona übernommen zu haben. Die Vorderseite ist jedoch selbständig und hebt sich vom Dicken der Urkantone klar ab. Es kann deshalb nicht von einem Beischlag zum Bellinzoner Dicken gesprochen werden.'' (This example is from Hess-Divo, Zürich, auction 328, lot 1107. The teston with the standing warrior in armor, struck under Michele Antonio Saluzzo (1504-1528), seems to have been the first to adopt the image of the dicken from Bellinzona. However, the obverse is independent and stands out clearly from the dickens of the original cantons. It can therefore not be spoken of as a supplement to the Bellinzoner Dicken.)"</p></blockquote> Carmagnola was an obscure corner of the marquisate of Saluzzo, itself a minor state in northwest Italy. It was later incorporated into [[Italy, Sardinia|Sardinia]] and is today part of [[Italy]].
