This specimen was lot 1022 in Sincona sale 85 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,100 CHF (about US$1,481 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"[[Iran|IRAN]], Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 1 Toman n. d. (1297-1313 AH / 1880-1896 AD), Tehran Mint. Special bust type. Extremely rare. Extremely fine. Weakly struck. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 31. Bought from Spink & Son, London, 1990. This 1 Toman is not a regular issue and only very few examples are known."</blockquote> With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. The auctioneers catalogued this as KM 989, which has a lion obverse. KM 938 has a bust obverse and is dated AH 1313/1310.
