This specimen was lot 2160 in Sincona sale 77 (Zurich, May 2022), where it sold for 280 CHF (about US$340 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''GERMANY | Hamburg, Stadt. Taler (32 Schillinge) 1585. Gutes sehr schön. Feine Patina.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Hamburg|city of Hamburg]], thaler or 32 schillings of 1585. Good very fine, Nicely toned.)"</blockquote> This type was struck 1585-88. It is technically a 32 schilling piece but is universally classed as a thaler. Double thalers (Dav-9222) exist. The city of Hamburg issued coins almost continuously until the end of World War One and the mint there is still in operation, striking coins for the Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
