This specimen was lot 551 in Sincona sale 54 (Zurich, May 2019), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$774 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Elizabeth II. 1952-2007. 1000 Dollar 1986. Royal Visit. Polierte Platte. FDC.'' (Hong Kong, Elizabeth II, 1952-2007, one thousand dollars of 1986, for the royal visit. Choice Proof.)"</blockquote> Hong Kong commenced a series of gold commemoratives featuring the animals of the Chinese zodiac. This one honors a Royal Visit. Another NCLT honored the year of the Tiger ([[Hong Kong 1986 1000 dollars KM-54|KM 54]]). British coinage for Hong Kong ceased in 1997 when the island was returned to China.
