This specimen was lot 20543 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurzburg. 2 Goldgulden, 1786. Franz Ludwig von Erthal (1779-95). NGC MS-62. Fr-3735; KM-430. Struck from Goldgulden dies on a heavier flan. In an astonishing state of preservation, with glossy nearly prooflike fields and a great strike. A splash of orange peel toning across the lower portion of the portrait aptly conveys the original status of the surfaces."
