This specimen was lot 21104 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. Livorno. Pezza Della Rosa, 1718. Cosimo III Medici (1670-1723). PCGS AU-50 Secure Holder. KM-15.4; Dav-1501; CNI-XI, 47,102. Struck towards the end of the House of Medici and its total domination of most aspects of life in both Florence and Tuscany. A marvelous example of the issue with medium tone and sharp well defined devices. There are only a handful finer, with the majority of the few other surviving specimens showing considerably more circulation. Highly attractive dark pastel sheen atop the tone; a real beauty worthy of inclusion in a collection of the finest available Tuscan coinage."
