This specimen was lot 31160 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ottoman Empire. Mehmed II (1451-1481) gold Sultani AH 883 (1478/9) AU50 ANACS, Constantinople mint (in Turkey), 3.54g, Album-1306, ICV-3145. Perhaps the most historically significant, if not the most desirable, of early Ottoman emissions, the present piece has not only its superb condition--being perfectly centered on the flan with rich golden color and sharp calligraphy--to its credit, but also its near pivotal historical context--having been struck by the famous "Conqueror of Constantinople" in his newly-acquired capital just 15 years after the initial conquest. Extremely rare and certainly demanding of a premium bid. Ex. Dr. Hans Wilski Collection."
