This specimen was lot 168 in Sincona sale 31 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$5,045 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "OTTOMAN TUNIS | Abdul Hamid II (1293-1299ah/1876-1909ce) 10 riyals 1295ah (1878ce) AU KM 199 RRRR Fdc 1.93 g. Before the French closed the mint in Tunis in 1308ah (1891ce), a series of 100, 50, 25, 10, and 5 riyals were struck in gold. The only gold coin in general circulation after 1281ah (1865ce), however, was the 25 riyals. The others were undoubtedly intended for presentation purposes only and are thus rarely found. Ex Spink (Zurich) 37:67."
