This specimen was lot 878 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,496 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"TOURNAI, atelier royal français, Charles VIII (1483-1498), AV écu d'or au soleil, 1e émission (septembre 1483), point 16e. Couronnelles initiales. D/ Ecu de France couronné sous un soleil. R/ Croix fleurdelisée portant un quadrilobe en coeur. Dupl-575; Laf. 554; Hoc 200 (un seul exemplaire répertorié); Delm. -. 3,42 g Très rare. Très Beau. (lordship of Tournai, French royal mint, Charles VIII, 1483-98, gold écu of the sunburst, first emission (September 1483), 16th point, initial crown. Obverse: crowned arms of France beneath a sunburst; reverse: floriate cross with a quadrilobe at the center. Very rare, very fine.)"

Duplessy: 3.49 g, .963 fine gold, 36 sols, 3 deniers tournois. also second emission of 1494. list under France. Fr-382 (Tournai) same as Fr-318 (France).
