This specimen was lot 30669 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $4,465. The catalog description[1] noted, "Confederation 5 Francs 1894-B MS64 NGC, Bern mint, KM 34. A highly desirable jewel, with glistening-silvery tone and glimpses of champagne-luster dripping from the devices. Asserting an extremely low mintage of only 34,000 pieces, this is one of the scarcest dates in the series which is further confirmed by the list price of $9,500 for a BU designation in the SCWC."
