This specimen was lot 3767 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,909 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SPAIN, Königreich, Carlos III. 1759-1788 8 Escudos 1788. M-Madrid 26.99 g. Cayon 13003. Fr-282. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (kingdom of Spain, Chalres III, 1759-88, eight escudos of 1788, Madrid mint. Very fine-extremely fine, Attractive patina.)"

This type struck at Lima, Madrid, Mexico, Nuevo Reino, Popayan, Potosi, Santiago and Seville; Madrid is the scarcest.
