This specimen was lot 30085 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $30,550. The catalog description^[1] noted, "An Unparalleled Proof Beauty of Saxony--Likely the Finest German Empire Gold Proof Extant! Saxony. Friedrich August gold Proof 20 Mark 1914-E PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC, Muldenhutten mint, KM1265, Jaeger-268. A pristine coin, absolutely the finest known for the type, and a marvel to behold. Produced to the highest standard imaginable, the raised design is luxuriously frosted in extreme depth, with no discernable grazes, ticks or flecks of any significance.
