This specimen was lot 42301 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. 1/24 Taler (Groschen), 1772. Friedrich III (1732-72). NGC MS-64. KM-323. Crane privy mark below bust. The finest certified by 2 points at NGC and PCGS. Struck for the death of Friedrich III. A coin that has obviously been set aside since 1772, with gray silver coloration and clear amber tone across the obverse fields and high points of the portrait."
