This specimen was lot 708 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. Taler, 1805-L. NGC MS-64. Dav-831; KM-131. RARE. One year type. Nearly full old envelope toning on obverse showing a few patches of lustrous reflective surfaces and vibrant multi-hued highlights, the reverse is a bit more even in toning but still displays strong underlying luster. From a mintage of only 600 pieces. This is the second finest example certified, with the finest being only one point higher. From the Rockaway Collection."
