This specimen was lot 23039 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. 2 Shillings, 1936. NGC MS-63 PL. KM-22; Hern-S249. Of the 75 coins certified by NGC, the only example to receive the prooflike designation. No question a coin struck from extremely fresh dies and with all of the attendant sharpness fully intact. A very choice example and the last year for the issue."
