This specimen was lot 31560 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $6,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "Catherine II gold 5 Roubles 1769-CПБ AU55 PCGS, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C78a, Bit-64 (R1), Diakov-222, Petrov 12 Rub. Obv. Crowned bust of Catherine II right. Rev. Four crowned shields in cruciform, with date in angles. Abundant remaining mint luster, with a bold obverse strike and slight softness on the reverse. A few contact marks are noted and the overall appearance is pleasing. A very rare gold issue. Only 5 examples of this very rare issue have been certified by PCGS and NGC combined, with only 2 finer than this piece. Comes with photo certificate #5044 from the Moscow Historical Museum."
