This specimen was lot 31370 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1836 CПБ-HГ MS65 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, Bit-240, KM-C167.1. Obv. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle in beaded circle. Crowned date and value in wreath. Superbly struck, with full luster beneath mottled gray, argent-gray, and silver patina. Only a few faint hairline-type marks are noted and this pristine example is one of the finer examples of the entire type that we have seen. This is the finest piece of this date certified by either NGC, or PCGS."
