This specimen was lot 30417 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,595.65. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I 2 Kopecks 1837 EM-HA MS66 Red and Brown NGC, KM-C139.1. Currently the finest-known certified example of this date in a red-brown designation, with crisply-defined devices and superb, coppery surfaces that border on flashy. A minor reverse die crack adds a level of charm to this nearly flawless and highly alluring example."

m. 16,845,000--highest mintage date of a type struck 1831-39 at Ekaterinburg, which struck two kopeks until 1876. The Kolyvan/Suzan mint struck two kopeks until 1847 under various mintmarks.
