This specimen was lot 3290 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 4 Escudos (Peca), 1828. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Fr-136; KM-388; Gomes-15.01. VERY SCARCE one year type. An attractive piece which is very close to being uncirculated. Highly lustrous which mostly blurs out the tiny contact marks in fields. Gently wiped at some time leaving no lines or wisps. Some toning near rim and reverse which adds character to the otherwise vibrant yellow gold piece. Sharply struck with good eye appeal. Ex: Stack's Sale March 4-5, 1988, Lot #1434."
