This specimen was lot 30370 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Escudo 1935 MS66 NGC, Lisbon mint, KM578, Gomes-25.06. Enchanting luster illuminates the surfaces, with a touch of central incompleteness that prevents a finer grade, but no post-strike marks that demand notice. An impressive, essentially-pristine example of this prohibitively rare date, struck for exclusive usage in the Azores, but today seldom seen in any grade, let alone as a premium Gem. Easily among the finest known and priced in the Standard Catalog of World Coins at $7,000 in MS63 grade."
