This specimen was lot 30234 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $3,525. The catalog description[1] noted, "Papal States. Calixtus III gold Zecchino (Florin of 24 Sols) ND (1455-58) VF Details (Removed from Jewelry) NGC, Avignon mint, Fr-36a (under France). Berman-355 (RRR), Muntoni-17. A rare gold coin from the fleeting reign of Calixtus III, featuring an ox above crossed keys and the reverse motif of a tiara. Despite being removed from jewelry, this coin is struck on a full flan, with readable legends, and attractive, antiqued patina. Listed by both Friedberg and Berman as 'Rare,' this is an offering that is almost never seen in the marketplace and as such, worthy of a strong bid."
