This specimen was lot 29859 in Heritage sale 3040 (Long Beach, April 2015), where it sold for $5,875. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nurnberg. Free City Taler ND (1581/2) XF45 PCGS, with titles of Rudolf II, KM-MB88, Dav-9601, Kellner-163. Although there are a number of issues of Guldengroschen and Guldiner dating back to the early-mid 16th century, this is the first Reichstaler issue of the city of Nurnberg. The devices are boldly struck with minor doubling, more noticeable on the reverse. The antique-gray patina is accentuated by champagne highlights with deepening gray in protected areas. Very rare. A prize for the world crown collector."
